On Sunday, October 25th, 36 families who had been affected by the recent flooding in our community were “adopted” by 36 families from The Ridge.

Ridgers took packets to give to these families, including a case of water, a $100 gift card from Home Depot and a $25 gift card from Wal-Mart, along with a gift certificate from Chick-fil-A. We are taking these to families and encouraging them and praying with them and simply ministering to them. Thanks to two churches from out of state who made donations to make this relief project possible: my brother Tim’s church in St. Pete, FL, Bridgepoint Church and Fuel Church in Poteau, Oklahoma where Shane Waldrop is pastor. Thanks to the people of these churches who helped make this happen.

We intentionally have waited with this project, so that we could respond to specific families in a personal way after all of the initial “excitement” and emotion of helping out had worn off. Our goal is to “be here” for these families long term.

We pray that this will be a blessing and a great opportunity to share God’s love in a practical way.

This page is dedicated to YOU who have helped, to share YOUR STORIES of touching and blessing these families. It is also to be an encouragement to others in the church and the community. May these stories inspire you to BE the Church in your community!

blessitforwardexp_blog_banner_title21On April 19, 2009 we at The Church @ The Ridge, decided to do something unusual. Most churches have never done this. It is a huge risk for a church to do what we did. It is certainly a sacrifice, but we felt it was time to do this. We did this a couple of years ago and saw God do amazing things in and through people in our church and community. This time we tied this “reverse offering” to some exciting vision that God has placed before us.

We are kicking off a Faith Initiative going on a Wild Goose Chase @ The Ridge. This is a three year Faith Initiative to raise funds so that we as a church can more effectively reach our community and world. We will be seeking to increase our capacity so that more people can be reached with a Fresh Perspective on the Church, God, themselves and others. This will help us further accomplish the vision God has given us to “Impact Another Generation By Changing People’s Perspective.”

Since we are asking people to give sacrificially, we as a chruch felt like we should model sacrficial giving first. That is why we decided to “give back” the offering on April 19th. We want you to know that we are serious about what God has called us to do…to impact our community for Him! Thus the Bless It Forward Experience was brought back.

This blog is a chance to share YOUR STORY about your Bless It Forward Experience. A chance to praise God, encourage others and even further bless it forward with your story. Click on COMMENTS and take a minute to read the stories already shared, then share what you did with the money you received to be a blessing to someone.
